Welcome Oziles'!

The Oziles' name stems from our Franco Ontarian roots. When we were growing up, we spent many days at our cottage on Petrie Island. Prior to leaving or when asked where we were headed, we would answer "aux îles" which translated means "at the islands" Thus when we were researching for a name for our destination, the Oziles' name came out at the forefront.

Presently we have a store with fishing tackle and boating equipment, we sell fishing licenses, live bait, boat rentals, ice hut rentals, canoe and kayak rentals, and much more. We also do minor outboard and inboard motor repairs, hull pressure washing, storage, winterizing and have a boat ramp. Construction of our new concrete boat ramp is completed as of July 2006. We refer to ourselves as a destination simply because of the wealth of activities we offer and that can be done in and around Petrie Island. Petrie Islands are the newest addition to the city of Ottawa beaches with a few twists. It is the only one located in the east end of Ottawa, it is the largest beach in Ottawa, it is comprised of three main components, the Stuemer Beach, the Al Tweddle Picnic area and the Grandmaitre Ecological reserve. This trio offers many potential year round activities to the outdoor enthusiasts and families! Our goal is to help the community utilize the surrounding nature to its maximum while minimizing the long term impact and damage to nature itself. To do this we have adopted several strategies:

1)all of our work and planning is done with conservation in mind
2)we strive to utilize the latest technologies in energy conservation
3)work on the property is done to minimize damage to the natural state and where required we will restore as much as possible any damage done
4)we wish to encourage the community to take part, visit the trails, come fish, boat, swim, whatever suits you, surrounded by the unique environment provided by Petrie Island
